Family and Music Friends

Stevie and Lenny. This was taken in Germany in late '84 or early '85. Seems you never hear much about Lenny. People don't realize that Lenny was the deepest love of Stevie's life. I know this! It's a shame that drugs and alcohol tore them apart. They fought so hard to drive each other away, and so hard to hold on to what they had. Mitch Mitchell was one of my favorite drummers. The work he did with Jimi Hendrix was incredible. Without Mitch Mitchell, those early records would not have been some of the greatest works in musical history that changed people, and changed music, for all time. This was when we toured with Robert Plant. Great tour. I always loved Led Zeppelin. They were one of the greatest bands ever. In 1969, when I was playing with Johnny Winter, we played several shows with them. They were unbelievable! The guy on the far right with the mustache was our Tour Manager, Skip Rickert. (I doubt if Mick remembers it, but it sure was a big deal to us!) Photo credit: David Betito This is a great photo that I am very proud of. It was taken during the recording of "Couldn’t Stand the Weather." This is me with the great John Hammond. He produced this record. I can’t express how honored I was to work with him. What a great man! The man with the golden ear. If you don’t know who he is, you should. Take time to find out. If you love music, take the time. Another photo with the great John Hammond.
